Odlo functional underwear: global success thanks to far-reaching innovations

Odlo's corporate history is characterised by a multitude of innovative and progressive developments. In 1963, Odlo was the first company to introduce the elastic and functional suit made of synthetic Helanca fibre for cross-country skiers and speed skaters. That suit, which was revolutionary at the time, was worn by the Norwegian national ski team just one year later. In 2002, Odlo achieved a breakthrough in fabric production with the development of fibre effect underwear. That was the first of its kind to use silver ions to inhibit odours. With the Temperature Control System (TCS), Odlo offers athletes modern functional underwear that protects them from any weather and is perfectly adapted to the different seasons. Moisture transport in summer, thermal insulation in winter – with the TCS, athletes are optimally equipped for their next workout in the open air. Odlo also set new standards in 2006 with the invention of its high-tech cubic fabric. The ultra-light fabric provides athletes with exceptional freedom of movement and excellent workout comfort.

At Odlo, innovation goes hand in hand with ecological and social responsibility

In its 70-year history to date, Odlo has dedicated itself entirely to sustainable production and social responsibility. Odlo runs the majority of its production in its own production facilities in Europe and the Middle East and is therefore always precisely aware of compliance with environmentally friendly manufacturing conditions. The materials used by Odlo are particularly environmentally friendly and guarantee a long durability of the Odlo range. For example, Odlo underwear is certified with Öko-Tex Standard 100 thanks to its sustainable production, as it is identified as a product free of harmful substances. In addition, Odlo regularly subjects its items to precise tests to ensure their environmental friendliness. By integrating recycled polyester fibres, Odlo underscores its keen awareness of sustainable creation. Its membership in the international non-profit organisation Fair Wear Foundation, which campaigns for better working conditions in the clothing industry, also shows that innovation and responsibility go hand in hand at Odlo.

Odlo functional underwear - 70 years of love for sports

Odlo was founded in 1946 by sports enthusiast Odd Roar Lofterød. The Norwegian, from whose merged name the brand name Odlo was created, is considered a true pioneer in the production of excellent sportswear. "Always one step ahead" was both Lofterød's company slogan and his vision. Odlo's extraordinary success story began with the production of workout trousers for figure skaters. Numerous innovations and diversifications of the product range followed, which today has become the benchmark in terms of quality and effectiveness and has turned Lofterød's vision into reality. Since 1979, the company has been run by his son Odd Roar Jr. . Today, the company is headquartered in Hünenberg near Zug in Switzerland.
